I propose a terrain creation contest with Grome. It would build interest outside and inside the community.

It was a thought. It sounded good. I posted. Comments?

Sure, it's a good idea..
Any rules ? (Number of textures layers ? or dimension of the terrain ?)

Assuming this was accepted as an official contest the rules would be up to the Quadsoftware team. If I had to come up with rules I could search for what others have done, but I do have a couple of ideas.

1. Theme: Valleys
2. Size: 2048x2048 @ 10 max (no limit on textures)

These are just ideas, but if QS decided on it I am sure there would be specifics that could be discussed.

When you say no limit on tiles , are you refereeing at terrene rez , or number of texture layers ?

Hi,
Happy Easter to everybody Smile ,
After the holyday , we will post a level design doc from a game designer point of view , followed by a technical instruction for that level ,as a challenge.
Based on that we will make a tutorial step be step on how to do that level in Grome .
We hope that that kind of challenge will help you to use Grome at maximum capacity to obtain better looking and fast solution for your current projects .

It would be open to anyone. Even if they are using the demo version. At least I would think so.

You don't have a special Grome key to make a screenshot but you have the standard OS printscreen Smile. This will grab the image in the clipboard and you can paste it in an image program (old friend Windows Paint will do the job).

Also you may consider removing the workspace and tools panel before taking the screenshots (just press ALT + 1). This will leave only the Grome menu and toolsbars on the screen. If desired remove these too in other image editing application (just use a simple image crop).

Also you may consider using a screen capturing software. This can have other options (like saving directly to disk, saving only from a screen region etc).
