Hi, as an indie developer doing it just for fun maybe, first I think you should consider buying Standard edition rather than Professional (later you can easily upgrade). You can also use a Professional edition for the desktop for more serious stuff, while using a Standard edition on the laptop for study, testing etc. You can also use demo for the laptop (it can load Professional maps but cannot save them, so for tests is ok but be aware that SDK is not included with the demo).
I know that the current licensing scheme is not ideal but unfortunately is the best protection we can have for a niche program. When users need to change their computer we are more than happy to assist them moving their licenses. We are also considering dongle protection in the future but there are other problems with that (dongle being defect, two many dongles on one machine from multiple programs etc).
