There is no specific tool cu cover roads in version 1.0. Road construction are planned for version 2.0. But, nevertheless, you can still create roads with the current version of Grome. One possibility is to have roads painted on terrain (texture only roads). This can be accomplished with the brush, or, in version 1.3 (coming soon), with shape file support (in version 1.3 you can import shape files which are standard polygonal file formats and select or paint with them).

Another possibility is to have the road geometry imported in Grome as a normal object. A plugin can be developed to level the underneath terrain.

Also Grome supports heightmap selection layers. You can paint these layers to follow the roads path (you can paint them with the brush tool or create plugins to automatically generate them). Then all the heightmap operations will be applied to this selection (you can level, smooth or raise the portion of the road). Of course this is not like a fully featured terrain system but can be used to create roads.

Now, these are the default, out-of-the-box solutions. We can also develop under contract customization work regarding roads or any other specific processing. If you are interested in this approach drop us an email at contact at quadsoftware.com (or directly to me at licu @ quadsoftware.com) and I can provide you more information about what is already done (as customization work for other clients) and what can be done and what are the exact details. We already have various game / 3d simulation studios for which we created and maintained customized versions of Grome.
