I have been able to create terrains with multiple masked textures, and then import them into my texture splatting system with no problems - I have found this process a joy to use.
For lower detail/long distance views I would like to be able to bake everything into one texture so that only a simple textured mesh needs rendering, with no splatting.
Is it possible to combine all of the masked layers, and export just a single texture? The only references I can find refer to using the SDK, which I would prefer not to as I am not currently working in C++.
Version 1.3 will have support for backing during export (export of Geotiff and other high resolution images). The backing will also be exposed in the SDK. I cannot give you a certain date for 1.3, but it will be out in the following months (February or March).
