I apologize if I have missed this tool should it already exist.

What would really help is a method/tool for picking an area to get terrain data such as height, slope and perhaps such things as layers.

Another tool would be the ability to measure an area. Either between two points or an area.

Yes all these tools are very useful. For now, there is only one that helps you pick the height (it is called SurfInfo in the Heightmap category). Also all the brushes show their position (x, y, z and y being the height) in their center. For the next released we have tools planned to measure distances, areas and various inclinations. Also local layers information tools are scheduled.

I just noticed when I was working with Grome last night how to discover the information with the brushes. The SurfInfo allso provided what I needed and discovered it after digging through the Help Docs and playing around in Grome. Wonderful stuff. Still, the measuring tools would be very useful. I look forward to them.
