You can activate a selection and use it to mask out heightmap effects, but can you use it to mask out texture and details and so on? I don't want to paint the same thing 3 times!

Hi,

Yes this is a common request among users (usage of selection layers for textures) and we are working to have this implemented. For now it isn't possible to use it for textures but in your case you can work around this by copying the mask of the first painted layer to the other layers.

For this, you go to the layers view (left panel), at Selection tab, materials subtab, and right click on the layer you want to copy mask from and select "Copy zones data to". From the menu select the layer to which you want to copy the mask (also called zone data) to. This will copy the mask from one layer of the selected zones to another layer of the same zones.

Regards,
Adrian L.
